How We Write Our Guides
The step-by-step guides on this site are written and published by Ballistol UK, the UK home of Ballistol. They cover the jobs our customers ask us about most: rust on tools, stiff locks, gun cleaning, bike chains, leather, car care in a British winter and more.
Who is behind the guides?
Ballistol products have been made in Germany by F.W. Klever GmbH since 1904. Ballistol UK sells the range to customers across the United Kingdom and answers their questions by phone and email every week. The guides are published under the Ballistol name because they draw on that product knowledge rather than on one person's opinion. You can read more about the company on our About Us page.
How is each guide checked?
- Every product claim comes from the product's own page, its product information sheet or its safety data sheet. The sheets are in our technical data library.
- Legal and safety points link to the UK source they come from, such as GOV.UK, the HSE, the Highway Code or the Met Office.
- Each guide shows a "Last checked" date, and older guides are reviewed and updated when product details or UK guidance change.
- We do not publish paid reviews, invented testimonials, or medical or veterinary advice, and we do not claim a product does something its own data does not support.
